    The Library of the JU Institute of Eastern Slavonic Studies has an extensive collection of belles-lettres, Eastern Slavonic languages textbooks, books and periodicals from the field of literary studies, linguistics, language teaching, translation studies, cultural studies, philosophy as well as cultural, religious, political, and social life of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and other former USSR republics. The collection contains books in Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, English, German, and French.

    Our collection consists of about 50 thousand books and about 13 thousand copies of periodicals. We subscribe to 16 weekly and monthly journals, including: Woprosy literatury, Slavia Orientalis, Argumenty i fakty, and other titles.  

    The titles of all the books may be fund in the paper catalogues in our reading room at Mały Rynek 4. Besides, all the items acquired since 2009 have been electronically catalogued. A large proportion of our books (about 40%), especially those in Polish, can be found in the Online Catalogue of the Jagiellonian Library (location: INST. FIL. WSCHODNIOSŁOW.) A person interested in gaining access to an item should copy the catalogue number and the basic bibliographical information (author and title).

    The bibliographical data is transliterated. In the paper catalogue the old transliteration is used, whereas the online catalogue employs the new norm: PN-ISO 9:2000
