the sixth edition of the International Conference “BETWEEN WOR(L)DS”

INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION

IN THE CONTEXT OF MODERN TRANSLATION STUDIES

20-21 May 2019

Our Conference is part of a series of interdisciplinary meetings aimed at discussing various aspects of the theory and practice of translation, with the focus on such areas as literary translation, audio-visual translation, community translation, translation of specialist texts, and modern tools in the translator’s workshop.

Taking into account the interdisciplinary nature of our conference, we would like to invite not only translators and linguists, but also representatives of literary studies, cultural studies, and other disciplines of humanities. We welcome reflections on a wide range of problems concerning intercultural communication in translation. Papers should thus address one or more of the following areas of interest:

- theory and practice of literary translation;

- methodology of translating literary texts;

- literary translation in the context of intercultural communication;

- audio-visual translation in the context of intercultural communication;

- film adaptations of literary texts as systems of codes;

- cultural codes in translation;

- limits and challenges concerning communication in translation;

- specialist translation, etc.

Languages of the Conference: Polish, English, Russian, German, and French.

The presented papers, subsequent to positive reviews, shall be published in academic journals: Acta Polono-Ruthenica (13 pts.) or Acta Neophilologica (8 pts.).

The Conference will take place in Olsztyn on May 20–21, 2019 and will be hosted by the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.

Please submit the title of your paper and abstract by March 20, 2019.
